Aventurine Gem

What Is Aventurine, What Is Aventurescence

Aventurine is a variant of quartz though not as popular as Amethyst or Citrine, which also belong to the quartz family. If you wonder from where the aventurine gem stone got it's name, it is interesting to know that the word is picked up from the Italian language. The term 'a ventura' in Italian means 'by chance', the name aventurine is a variation of this. We do not know for sure why the name was influenced by Italian because, the stone is in not very abundant in that nation. Most of the greenish aventurine stones originate from India.

Aventurine is basically a transluscent variety of quartz and is generally white with many (colored) inclusions. When you talk about a green aventurine gem stone, you refer to a transluscent or opaque quartz that has green inclusions in it. Gem buyers do sometimes come across aventurine gems that are opaque with almost no transluscency. The point is that in such opaque aventurine gemstones, the inclusions are so densely packed that they do not allow any light to pass through them. So you can have aventurine stones where the inclusions are very scarce, others where there are moderately concentrated inclusions and finally, aventurine with densely packed inclusions.

Let us talk about the color of aventurine gemstones. As mentioned above, the base color is a transluscent white that is quartz. Many gem buyers including very experienced ones believe that, aventurine is always greenish implying that the inclusions are always green. The truth is that this stone has quite a few color variations. Brown, green, blue, yellow and even grey are the main colors in which aventurine gemstones can be found. Once again it is the element that is included in the stone that imparts the color to it.

The green aventurine stones have a type of mica present in the stone in the form of tiny flakes. This mica type is referred to as, fuchsite and the presence of chromium in fuchsite gives it a green color. Just how green your aventurine gemstone would appear, depends on the concentration of the green fuchsite flakes in the gem stone. They can sometimes be so dense, that the rough stone is mistaken for some other green gems.

If you hold an aventurine stone in the light, you will see an impressive shimmer in the gemstone. This is brought about by the light striking the inclusions. If the gem stone is oriented in the right direction during the cutting process, the shimmer can be truly spectacular. As expected, aventurine gem stones that are very sparsely included or very densely included do not appear very pretty in the light. This shimmer has been given a technical name by gemological experts, they named it aventurescence. Keep in mind that this type of shimmer has been given the name aventurescence. If the same shimmer exists in another gem stone which is not aventurine, the effect can still be called aventurescence.

Most reports rate the hardness of aventurine at 6.5 to 7. Pure quartz would measure a whole 7 on the Mohs scale but since aventurine is not quartz alone but includes other elements, the hardness is a little below 7. You will find aventurine cut into faceted gems and even smooth (cabachon cuts). Beads are one other popular way in which aventurine is cut. Much of the demand for aventurine gemstones is sustained by the special meaning and powers attached to it. Many people believe that wearing an aventurine stone stimulates creativity. Managers who wear this stone are believed to make good leaders with sharp and prompt decision making. Please remember that we do not make any such claims about any gemstone. It is mentioned here to make you aware, of some interesting beliefs and traditions that are bound to certain gems.

Kaisilver can custom cut all gems in the shape, size and quantity that you need. This is infact possible for all gem stones and not just aventurine loose gemstones. We welcome even the smallest order for loose gemstones, even as small as a single piece. You can order just the loose gems or request for a complete gold or silver gem stone to be made according to your design or ours.

Who Is Kaisilver?

Having established itself as the world's leading online custom jewelry provider, Kaisilver now extends it's merchandise line to include gems. While there is no shortage of gem stones in the global market, reliable sources for the retail buyer requirements are not many. Most retail gem dealers work with limited inventories, this reduces buyer options. Another problem with these small dealers is the lack of information and reliability when it comes to gem authenticity and value for money. Kaisilver with it's wide network of gemstone mining and manufacturing resources, is the best source for gems of all types, shapes, sizes and cuts. With a support team that is compromised of jewelry and gemstone experts, the advice and suggestions made by the team relate to your requirements and not to fixed sales targets. The website shows a small sampling of the gems that we offer. You can infact request for just about any gem on the globe. All gems are sourced directly from the source, closely inspected and then custom cut by our expert cutters. With a buyer base that includes fashion models, government officials, casino and resort owners, lawyers, financial experts, students and professors, doctors and surgeons, sportsmen and newsreaders we have become the preferred choice for quality gems and jewelry. By cutting out middlemen commissions and multiple agents, we provide great value for your money. Our large online operation does not stop us from welcoming even the smallest order. Gold and silver jewelry is custom made with equal attention to quality, material and craftsmanship. You can choose from our designs or send us detailed for the style and design that you need.

How To Order?

The process to order gems and custom jewelry at Kaisilver is similar. We do not expect you to make a rush purchase. We do wish that you take the time to discuss your requirements with our experts. They will be in a position to provide constructive suggestions that will guide you to make well informed buying decisions. Email all your requirements to sales@kaisilver.com provide as much inputs as possible to help us make relevant suggestions. For example if you are keen on getting a green gemstone but, are not particular about it being an emerald mention this in your email. Our gem experts might suggest a green tourmaline or even a peridot instead of an emerald. This suggestion would reduce our profit margins but will give you a gem that, is much cheaper and even more durable as compared to an emerald. When it comes to payments we offer some very suitable options. Paypal is the preferred form of payment, it is fair to the buyer and seller. The buyer when using paypal never needs to reveal credit card of bank information to the seller. We also accept direct bank transfers but prefer to do this on a case by case basis. When it comes to online transactions these days, both buyer and seller are afraid of frauds. It is quite possible that you do not feel comfortable working with us at Kaisilver. We sometimes feel a little uncomfortable with certain transactions too and prefer to keep away from them. There have always been fears of processing payments through Western Union money transfers. With the latest fraud reports, fake sellers and even fake buyers have been pulling off many online frauds using this mode of payment. At the same time we do understand that armed forces from the U.S who are stationed in various global positions sometimes have no other mode of payment besides Western Union. We therefore accept this mode of payment but at the same time, request you to avoid this mode if you do not feel comfortable using it. Shipping is done through FEDEX and you can expect a production lead time of around 4 to 5 weeks from the date of order confirmation and receipt of payment. Every jewel is fully custom made and requires the complete attention and concentration of highly skilled craftsmen. When it comes to gems, we could provide faster lead times and this can be discussed for each specific order.
